It started with a digital storytelling project
on Twitter. Finished fictional micro-stories of 140 characters. At most. The tension arc is reduced to a maximum of three sentences. The twist explodes in the very last word.

"Trick or Treat?" The disguised children smiled at the retiree. "Come on in," said the creature. It was sweating under the mask.

Chloroform. Beep. Splitting axe. Beep. Garbage bags. Beep. Spade. Beep. Nathan paid and left the hardware store. The voices were silent now.

The world population was stunned. The rumors were true: a second civilization had been discovered. On the outer shell of the earth.

The little wooden boat braced itself against the waves. Dan paddled. He stared into the dark water. Somewhere down there must be Manhattan.

He floated towards the glow. It was true: the tunnel. The bright light. Now it was over. A voice sounded. "It is a boy!"
The TINY TALES instantly went viral on Twitter. Then they won the prestigeous Grimme Online Award. This was followed by a book that was on the the Amazon bestseller list for many weeks.
